Meet Sarah Lamb, CYT, CRMT
I believe life is a magical journey with constant opportunities for growth and self-expansion. In my experience, Yoga and Reiki have played a significant role in this journey of self-realization and the ability to have unconditional compassion for all beings.
My own journey began in 1998, when I discovered yoga. I was a stressed and anxious college student looking for new ways of exploring my body and myself. Unfortunately, my first yoga experience was in a class meant for advanced practitioners. I had never done an inversion, and being forced into doing wheel pose on the wall created in me a disastrous first impression of yoga. It took me another 6 months to get back into it, and with the help of Deepak Chopra's book, Perfect Health, I started a daily practice on my summer vacation.
In the year 2000, tragedy struck with the death of my sister. Up until then, I'd been practicing Hatha Yoga almost daily at a local studio and at home. After this sudden loss, my teacher introduced me to Restorative Yoga, which was a powerful aide in healing my grief. After taking a semester off from college to deal with my loss, it was my energy-restoring yoga practice that allowed me to complete my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and English from SUNY Geneseo in 2001.
In 2005, my yoga training continued and I completed my 500-hour Hatha Yoga teacher training at Prana Yoga College in Vancouver, B.C. The experience I had there planted the seeds of what I would later become. I then lived on the west coast and practiced with different teachers for several years, learning to appreciate the differences in each teacher's approach to the practice. Over the years my yoga training grew to include Sivananda and Iyengar-based Hatha Yoga, along with Restorative, Yin, and Laughter Yoga. I have been passionately sharing my love for the process of self-realization through teaching yoga classes and workshops since 2006. I also have a certification in Silver Sneakers Chair Yoga and Yogafit level 1.
In 1998, the same momentous year I was introduced to yoga, I discovered the magical healing of Reiki. Lilydale, the world’s largest center for the science, philosophy and religion of Spiritualism, was located only a hop, skip and jump from SUNY Fredonia, where I spent my first two years of college. I was drawn to this community like a bee to honey and over my first summer break, I took Reiki 1 and 2 and a course in past life regressions. Reiki opened me to a vortex of energy and a sensitivity to life that enhanced my relationship with myself and deepened my intuition. I had always known that I was an empath, but after Reiki training, I was able to tune into others' energies without taking them on as my own (as I had done all of my life, which made social situations almost unbearable). Hesitant to awaken the energy of my 3rd eye, I kept my healing abilities secret, sharing them only with close friends and family for several years. In 2005, my Yoga, Reiki and spiritualism all came together during my Yoga teacher training at Prana Yoga College in Vancouver, B.C., and I became fully awakened to myself as a healer.
In 2008, I was attuned to mastership and have shared the practice through teaching and attuning students, as well as offering private and group meditation Reiki sessions. My empathic and intuitive skills combine with Reiki, and sessions often include insights that ultimately come from the Higher Self.
My training in Reiki has forever transformed the way I see and experience life. It fine-tuned my healing abilities and opened my eyes to the fact that all of Life is energy. Through Reiki, I have discovered that I can shift and transform my reality. Reiki bridges the mind, heart, body and spirit; in essence, it's Yoga!
My journey continued in my pregnancy with my daughter, Wren. Little did I know, a giant baby was growing inside of me! I had a very physically difficult pregnancy. I was nauseous all of my 1st trimester and experienced a lot of back pain, anemia, low energy and headaches in my 2nd trimester. At this time, I was teaching 5 or 6 yoga classes a week and giving Reiki sessions. I kept giving myself Reiki throughout my pregnancy and practiced yoga daily. I'm convinced that was why I was able to give birth to my 11 lb 7 oz baby (yep, you read that right) all naturally, at home!
I believe each of us contains a universe of sacred potential within. My journey has taught me that only by the process of Self-discovery, by nurturing the precious bloom within ourselves can we truly see the incredible bliss that surrounds us. For only by delving deep into our own hearts, minds and spirits can we uncover the gifts of joy and beauty that are all around us in each moment, in each breath, each and every day.
My personal motto for my sessions and practice is my rendition of the Buddhist prayer:
May all beings be happy, healthy and free from suffering.
If mySelf as conduit and Inner Bloom is right for you in your path to freedom from suffering, then I am honored to serve you!
Namaste,
Sarah ;)
